Sleeping in a sauna; Masters Recap + Preview of NBA Playoffs.
Happy Monday, yβall!
I am back in Dallas and full of gratitude. My close friends and family threw me a surprise birthday party for the big 3-0 on Saturday in Wisconsin. To say I was surprised would be the understatement of the century. (Should I have seen it coming? Some said yes because my two older sisters each had a surprise party for their 30th birthday, but here is my rebuttal β I am committed to the grind and have tunnel vision because of that. Forgive me.) While I was certainly in rough shape on Sunday and parts of today, it was an unbelievable party and something that I will be forever grateful for. Truly special moment in my life.
Alright, enough of that sappy bologna. I recently thought about how cool it would be to live in Utah. A lot of national parks, great skiing and snowboarding, and generally speaking a great place to explore the outdoors. But then I looked into it a bit more and β¦ as of November 2020, nearly 68% of the Utah population identify as Mormon. Turns out it would not be cool to live in Utah.

Your Thermostat Should Be Set to 82 Degrees Every Night, According to a New Report
βYou should wrap your food in aluminum foil when you put it in the microwave for ideal temperature, according to a new reportβ makes as much sense as the above headline. If you are someone that has your thermostat set above 75 β let alone 82 β while you sleep, you should be put on a list and the authorities should keep an eye out for you. Respectfully.
Energy Star, some phony ass governmental program, recommended that you have your thermostat set to 78 degrees while you are home and awake, 85 degrees while you are away from your dwelling, and 82 degrees while you are snoozing. If the thermostat is above like 72 in my apartment while I am sleeping, I am restless and get crap sleep. In fact, I would much prefer to have my apartment be an ice box than a borderline sauna. I am sure most people have similar sentiments.
CDC has previously come out with guidelines/recommendations for the optimal amount of sleep that people should get, based on their age. Sleep and temperature are, in my eyes, correlated. Do you think Energy Star consulted with the CDC on the recommendations in their latest report? That is a rhetoric question, because they did not.
Do you know why they did not? Because this report is propaganda. Setting your thermostat to a lower temperature wastes energy. Energy Star is βrun by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Department of Energy that promotes energy efficiency.β
Huh, go figure. I rest my case.
(But you should actually read the article if you are interested in conserving energy and lowering your utility bill.)

Gold jacket, green jacket, who gives a sh*t. Scottie Scheffler, who did not have any tournament wins entering 2022, took home the green jacket on Sunday, shooting 10 under par (-10) and finishing three strokes ahead of Rory McIlroy. The Highland Park (TX) native pretty much led from wire to wire. I was dozing off during Sundayβs round while on an airplane, but I am sure that Scottie Too Hottie hit some sick shots and shared some nice moments with those close to him after winning his first major championship. And that is your update on golf!
