I woke up this morning and watched this video on top of reading a bit about everything. I wasted about 5 minutes of my life that I will never get back. Before we get into everything, let the record reflect that I thought everything was fake and a set-up. It was real and not a set-up, at least to the best of my knowledge. Regardless, here’s my stance: Will Smith, winner of Best Actor for his performance in “King Richard” (great flick), is a certified nut job. You’re telling me that just because another dude makes one joke about your wife, that gives you a license to slap that man across the face on television in front of a national audience and then proceed to cuss him out after the fact?? Give me a break. Look, Will Smith’s life is not exactly glitz and glamour anymore as it turns out his wife may or may not be having sex with just about anyone but him. But to go haywire all because Chris Rock made a joke about your wife’s autoimmune disease, alopecia? Sure, the joke may be a bit insensitive, but confront him backstage or in another private setting. Do not assault him on the stage of the Oscars.
However, to stand up for the former Fresh Prince of Bel Air ever so slightly: if the Academy takes away his Oscar because of his hissy fit, which they reportedly have the power to do, then the Academy as a whole is also filled with a bunch of nut jobs.
From the Wall Street Journal: “Earlier Monday, the Academy launched a formal investigation into the incident. The group also shared organizational rules that it has the power to revoke an Oscar after the fact. … The Academy’s standards of conduct state that the organization can take disciplinary actions including ‘revoking Academy awards or honors.’ The Academy can take less drastic measures, too, including private or public reprimand, and temporary or permanent loss of eligibility for future Oscars.”
Altogether, Will Smith is an A-list celebrity — you would think he would possess a bit more emotional intelligence. Headspace, a meditation app, may be running yet another promo, so Will should sign up ASAP. They have a bunch of different of prompts. Fighting anxiety? They will help you overcome that. Having trouble focusing? They got you covered. Being cuc … nah, I will refrain from going there. Will Smith has enough shit to deal with. On the plus side, at least people are talking about the Oscars again!
🏀 SPORTZ: MARCH MADNESS 🏀
Pretty boring Elite 8, to be honest. Duke absolutely waxed Arkansas. The clock struck midnight on St. Peter’s historical run at the hands of the Tar Heels. Kansas made Miami look silly. And Villanova beat Houston via a thousand paper cuts, just an exhausting defensive game. The Blue Blood Final Four (except Kentucky lol, sucks to suck!). Yes, Villanova is a blue blood. In my opinion, there are historical blue bloods and there are current blue bloods. Villanova is vying for their third national title in the last six years. If you do not think the Wildcats are a blue blood, you also probably think Will Smith was in the right.
Anyway, I have a horrible feeling that Duke is going to win it all. Like, the type of feeling that you get when you see your high school crush dancing very aggressively with another individual during Get Low. It is a gut punch. Duke already gave me a gut punch in 2015, I would prefer not to have another one.
