Georgia Guidestones; Novak Djokovic Likes Grass; Two Brewers Make All-Star Game.
Happy Monday, yβall!
Being back in Wisconsin has treated me well. While the weather sucks from October through May, summer in Wisconsin is undefeated. Do you know what else is undefeated? Kwik Trip and Culverβs.

How the Georgia Guidestones became a magnet for conspiracy theorists
The Georgia Guidestones, located in Elberton, GA (Elbert County), about 2 hours outside of Atlanta, were smoked by some who-hows on July 6 and later destroyed entirely by authorities due to safety concerns.
In recent years, the Guidestones became a recurring symbol in the QAnon conspiracy movement, the subject of videos and other digital content that baselessly linked them to the Covid pandemic and a fictional cabal of sex traffickers.
Alex Jones, the incendiary conspiracist and Infowars host, visited the attraction in 2020 and called it "the birthplace of the modern depopulation movement," referring to an inscription on the granite that called for keeping the Earth's population under 500 million.
Kandiss Taylor, a conservative Republican who ran for the Georgia gubernatorial nomination and placed third in the state's May 24 primary, claimed the slabs of granite were satanic and made tearing them down a key pillar of her platform.
Some people really need to take a breath and ask themselves and/or others: βIs what I am currently thinking, or about to verbalize, make a lick of sense?β If the answer is no: sit down, quiet your mind and count to ten, get up and take a lap, repeat however many times is necessary in order to achieve calmness in some sense, then do a puzzle and redirect your energy. Put more succinctly, do not be a conspiracy theorist. Bad for your mentals.

Djoker Likes Grass, Wins Wimbledon: While you may have been nursing a hangover or enjoying a Sunday stroll, Novak Djokovic claimed his fourth consecutive and seventh all-time Wimbledon title on Sunday, defeating Nick Kyrgios 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6(3). The victory was Djokovicβs 21st Grand Slam title. He now trails Rafael Nadal by one for the most major titles on the menβs side. (Nadal withdrew from the tournament due to a torn abdomen prior to his semifinal match.)
Kyrgios had some serious momentum that could have propelled him forward as he was up 40-love in the third set with the set tied at 4-4. He ended up losing that game and the set. Thereafter β and, frankly, throughout the match β he consistently chirped at his own box and chirped at the head umpire. Not a good look in a major championship, but Kyrgios is not known for keeping his cool. If nothing else, when an individualβs Wikipedia page includes a βReputationβ section, you know that person is not exactly practicing the teachings of Ghandi and/or Mother Teresa.
All eyes are now on the U.S. Open, which starts next month. More specifically, will Djokovic be able to play due to his unvaccinated status? The answer is no, as of now. That is not a U.S. Open regulation, but rather a U.S. government regulation, which does not permit unvaccinated non-U.S. citizens to enter the country. Not to get political β because COVID definitely was and is a political issue β but the regulation seems silly in the current climate. Then again, I have a mild addiction to Sour Patch Kids, so who am I to opine about regulations in connection with a pandemic?
Regardless, allow me to leave yβall with this: We are living in the golden era of menβs tennis. 62 of the last 76 majors, including 20 of the last 22, have been won by Nadal, Roger Federer, and Djokovic.
Hey Now, Youβre An All-Star: Josh Hader and Corbin Burnes were announced as All-Stars on Sunday. Pending any injury replacements, it is the least number of selections that the team has had since 2017 (1; RHP Corey Knebel). In fact, the number of selections this year breaks a streak of three-straight All-Star Games in which the team had five selections.1
2022 is Haderβs 4th selection, Burnesβ 2nd selection. Hader is now tied with Ben Sheets for the most All-Star selections among pitchers in team history.
Do you remember when, during Haderβs 1st All-Star appearance in 2018, some people dug up some racist tweets that he sent in 2011 and 2012? Well, now ya do. What a comeback for him β on the brink of being canceled forever to being named as an All-Star for the fourth consecutive All-Star game.
