Finland prime minister; Masters recap + #ThisLeague; Ozempic
Happy Monday, yβall!
Anyone that says they love their job is a liar. I understand people may enjoy some aspects of the job (i.e. the money, coworkers, work environment, etc.), but work as a whole sucks.
And given that the length of oneβs lifetime will surely increase due to the advancement of modern medicine, there are going to be a lot of millennials and people in the younger generation that will work beyond 65. Happy Monday, indeed.

Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin gets ousted by conservatives in a tight election
I largely shy away from writing about politics, except in regards to Finland. That is right up my alley. I wrote about Sanna Marin, the countryβs prime minister, in Volume 15, Volume 45, and now Volume 76. Sadly, this will likely be the last time I cover her because she was defeated in the election. I guess good looks will only take you so far in Finland when you donβt balance the books.
The Social Democrats grew out of favor as inflation surged, the national debt grew and opposition leaders accused the SDP of excessive government spending.
Did her partying escapades have anything to do with her ouster?
It made her fans more enthusiastic, and her enemies more critical. At most, it accentuated the differences.
-Jon Henley, the Guardianβs Europe correspondent. Source
Iβm not a political aficionado, but I think the voters and the powers that be were a little short-sighted in voting Marin out of office. Sure, the economy appears to be as bad as a hangover, but what happened to practicing patience? Why not give her another try to turn things around? At the very least, the country would have stayed relevant in the US news because of Marinβs looks presence and demeanor. That has to be worth something. In fact, Iβm sure people that were drawn to Marin were thinking about visiting and seeing all of the countryβs sights and scenes. Thatβs how marketing works.
Now? Iβll remind myself that the US Olympic menβs hockey team beat them in the gold medal game of the 1980 Winter Olympics and go on with my life, never knowing what it is like to visit Finland. Sad.

MASTERS RECAP
A tradition unlike any other was back in the mix over the weekend, and the 2023 edition showed that mother nature remained undefeated as most of the third round was pushed to Sunday. Jon Rahm may look like one of the teletubbies, but playing 30 holes on Sunday did not seem to impact the Spaniard.
Rahm looked like me and a bunch of other slap-dick golfers to start the tournament off, registering a four-putt double bogey, but recovered to shoot a 65 on Thursday. He entered the final round four shots back but overcame that deficit en route to a four-stroke victory and his second career major (2021 U.S. Open), thanks to four birdies and a quality choke job by PGA Tour defector Brooks Koepka. Fellow PGA Tour defector, Phil Mickelson finished tied for second with Koepka at -8 after shooting seven under par in the final round. Mickelson will need the money to presumably pay off gambling debts incurred during the tournament.
Rahm has now posted four victories in 2023. In other words, estΓ‘ en llamas y jugando muy bien. According to Front Office Sports, Rahm has made more than $13 million in 2023, including $3.24 million from his Masters victory. The Arizona State product is now recession-proof. Good for him.
Best of all, he called his shot back in November 2013.
THIS LEAGUE
The NBA regular season concluded Sunday, but not without some drama. THIS LEAGUE! According to ESPNβs Woj, Minnesota forward Kyle Anderson told Rudy Gobert to ββshut the f--- up, b*tch.β The disagreement started with Anderson telling Gobert to block some shots, Gobert telling him to grab a rebound β and ended with a punch and Gobert getting sent home.'β
The Timberwolves suspended Gobert for the teamβs play-in game against the Los Angeles Lakers. Donβt you think this proves that Gobert is a b*tch, or at least the team thinks so? If Gobert was not a female dog, then the Timberwolves would have suspended Anderson for crossing the line of acceptable conduct. After all, they suspended Gobert for conduct that the team thought was out of bounds (no pun intended), yet Anderson will be in uniform for the play-in game. Just trying to connect the dots for yβall. Either way, none of this is good news for a franchise that mortgaged their future for Gobert. And on top of Gobertβs suspension, forward Jaden McDaniels fractured his hand after punching a wall on his way to the locker room at halftime. That is not a hall of fame dumb-dumb move, but it is close.
Before I move on, I want to leave you with a bit of trivia: the Timberwolvesβ first NBA season was 1989-1990. They have won two (2) playoff series throughout their entire history, both of which came in the 2004 playoffs. Kevin Garnett won the MVP that season.

'You forget to eat': How Ozempic went from diabetes medicine to blockbuster diet drug
I could use a dose of Ozempic after having an eating contest, against no one but myself, on Easter Sunday.
The drug was originally intended to treat diabetes and it is still treating diabetes, which is excellent because who wants to suffer like Wilford Brimley. Now, the Hollywood elites and others are using it as a substitute for a caloric deficit and daily water consumption in hopes of getting skinny. Instant gratification is a helluva addicting drug.
In the last several months, Ozempic has exploded onto the scene, with everyone from Elon Musk to Chelsea Handler talking about taking versions of the drug.
"My doctor ... just hands it out to anybody," comedian Chelsea Handler said on a podcast.
But Ozempic's rise to superstardom status was not something most people predicted. In fact, the drug was created by Novo Nordisk to help diabetes patients control their blood sugar.
But the drug's side effect of rapid weight loss quickly stole headlines and made Ozempic a very hot commodity. So hot, it caused some problems for the people it was originally intended to help.
